October 8, 2026
OTTAWA - October 8, 2026 - The Aboriginal Sport Circle (ASC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brendon Smithson and Victoria Marchand to its Board of Directors. Both will serve one-year terms.
These appointments support ASC's commitment to strong governance and athlete participation in shaping the organization's direction.
"Strong governance depends on people who bring different perspectives and a shared commitment to our work," said Rob Newman, President, Aboriginal Sport Circle. "We're grateful to Brendan and Victoria for stepping into these roles and look forward to their contributions over the coming year."
Marchand steps into the role of Athlete Director, bringing her experience in sport to help shape ASC's priorities and its work alongside Provincial and Territorial Aboriginal Sport Bodies.
"Athletes have valuable insight into where the sport system is working and where change is needed," said Jaclyn Guenette, Executive Director, Aboriginal Sport Circle. "Victoria's voice will help inform that work, and I look forward to working with her and Brendon as we put our members' priorities into action."
ASC continues to work with its members and partners to strengthen the Indigenous sport system and advance the implementation of The Spirit of Sport: Active Together, the National Indigenous Sport Strategy.
